5 Wicked Cool Things (May + June)

Hey, it’s Laura. I have to get better at posting my monthly Wicked Cool Things at the beginning of the month rather than someplace in the middle. Otherwise, I’m continuously going to keep making these preemptive “sorry I’m late” statements. I’ll try my best!

1) Oh Wonder

Oh Wonder is an indie pop duo from London with a slight electropop feel to their wonderful music. They make alternative synthetic pop often sound calming yet catchy. If you are like me and value the lyrics as well as the actual music, then you will most definitely enjoy this songwriting duo!

2) Wilfred

Wilfred is a dark comedy that’s surprisingly existential and many times surreal. I think it’s rare to find a comedic show that is full of meaning and value but still makes you laugh. Once you get past the fact that the show begins with a man in a dog suit costume, you’ll find yourself thinking about the lessons that Wilfred (“the dog”) teaches Ryan (the only guy who can mysteriously see Wilfred as a man in a dog suit).

3) Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Alice in Wonderland is simply a classic and my favorite of all of them! Everyone knows the story of Alice, but the original book is unmatched to any interpretation. I think Alice in Wonderland is my favorite classic mostly because it’s a children’s book with an entirely deeper meaning. Also, this cover could not be any better.

4) Room (dir. Lenny Abrahamson)

This film is heart-wrenching story about a woman who has been held captive for seven years in a tiny room with her son that has only known Room. The acting is amazing while the film is both dark and hopeful. It’s a harrowing yet beautiful movie that shows how life is created by experiences which shapes what we think and who we are.

5) Lorac Pro Palette

My beauty favorite for the month is the first Lorac Pro Palette. As you can see, this palette basically has every shade that one could possibly need. I really like Lorac shadows since they are incredibly soft and blendable. However, fallout does go into my eyes at times, but maybe that’s because my eyes are so damn sensitive. I always forget to do that trick where you put something underneath the eye to catch the tiny particles!
